Before & After

Mindset
Before

Jodi was experiencing severe imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and felt overwhelmed by the competitive job market, compounded by years of being a woman in product and a late ADHD diagnosis.

After

Jodi developed a healthy, reframed mindset β€” understanding that each 'no' is one step closer to a 'yes' β€” and regained her confidence, ultimately entering her new role ready to execute quickly.

Resume & LinkedIn
Before

Jodi had not thought intentionally about her LinkedIn presence or personal brand as a product manager beyond simply listing her current role.

After

Jodi developed a clear brand as a product manager and began actively posting thoughtful content on LinkedIn about the craft of product management, earning recognition for her community contributions.

Networking & Outreach
Before

Jodi had not intentionally thought about networking or building her professional brand beyond her current role, and had no structured approach to it.

After

Jodi learned how to network properly, invest in her professional community, and built lasting peer connections from the program β€” groups that continued meeting weekly even after everyone landed new roles.

Interview Performance
Before

Jodi was not getting past the hiring manager stage in interviews and felt she wasn't telling her story in a compelling way; the traditional STAR method was not working for her.

After

Jodi learned a new framework to hook interviewers, delivered her stories conversationally with her authentic personality, and felt confident and 'like her authentic self' throughout the interview process for her new role.

Job Search Strategy
Before

Jodi was applying to jobs in an extremely competitive market, felt lonely doing it alone, and lacked a structured strategy β€” relying on getting lucky with a few interviews that went nowhere.

After

Jodi followed a supported, structured search process with community check-ins, refined her targeting over time, and ultimately landed a role when a company she had previously interviewed with came back to her proactively.

Jodi Barthel's Story

Before I joined the Intentional Product Manager program, I was in one of the hardest chapters of my life. The job market was relentless. Within an hour, every listing had hundreds of applicants, and even when I made it to interviews, I kept hitting a wall at the hiring manager stage. Rejection after rejection started to wear me down. And underneath all of that? Imposter syndrome, thick and heavy. After years of being a woman in product, I felt like I was constantly bracing for impact. I was tired. Discouraged. Alone.

Then I came across a post by Shobhit on LinkedIn. It said, 'If you've been laid off, pause and validate your feelings.' Something about those words stopped me.

Intentional Product Manager wasn't just another coaching program. It taught me how to tell my story in a way that felt like me. It gave me something I didn't even know I needed: a real community. Coaches who didn't just challenge me, they saw me. I learned how to reframe the rejections. The frameworks helped me speak about my work with clarity and authenticity.

The result? I landed a role I genuinely love at a leading AI company. But here's the truth: the job was just one part of the win. What I gained ran much deeper. I started to heal, rebuild my sense of self, and reconnect with what makes me powerful as a product leader.
